The Fleet Driver Risk Assessment is the assessment unit every Foresight programme is built from. An assessor spends approximately 90 minutes on-road with the driver, observing driving against a consistent set of assessment criteria. Management then receives a documented report covering findings, risk classification and recommended actions, so occupational road risk can be discussed from evidence rather than anecdote.
What the assessment includes
Driver briefing
The purpose, structure and scope of the assessment are explained to the driver before any assessment begins.
Licence and eyesight checks where appropriate
Licence category and entitlement information is reviewed in line with your organisation’s process, together with an eyesight check where appropriate.
Vehicle safety considerations
The driver’s daily vehicle check, cab set-up and load security are observed and commented on where relevant.
On-road assessment
Approximately 90 minutes of driving on a route built from the roads that driver normally covers, subject to local geography.
Consistent assessment criteria
Observation, planning, hazard awareness, speed management, following distance, junctions, roundabouts, lane discipline, vehicle control, manoeuvring, driver attitude and eco-driving considerations.
Assessment debrief
At the end of the drive the assessor explains what was observed and the recommended next steps, so the driver understands the findings before the report is issued.
Management reporting
Documented findings, risk classification, assessor commentary and recommended actions issued to your nominated contact.
