After an at-work collision or a significant driving incident, employers often have to decide whether an employee should return to driving duties, and whether anything further is needed. A post-incident driver assessment provides a documented on-road review to help inform that decision, delivered with appropriate care for the individual involved. It is an assessment: we observe, record and report, and the employer makes the final decision about the driver’s duties.
What the assessment includes
Pre-assessment discussion
A conversation about the incident and any resulting concerns.
Graduated on-road assessment
Assessment paced to the individual, building from quieter roads.
Focus on relevant factors
Particular attention to circumstances relevant to the incident.
Assessment debrief
Findings explained supportively at the end of the drive, with the recommended next steps set out clearly.
Written findings
Documented findings, risk classification and recommended next steps for management consideration.
The decision stays with the employer
The assessment is not remedial instruction and does not make the decision for you. Foresight reports what was observed; the employer decides what happens to the driver’s duties.

Scope
