Many employees passed their driving test without ever driving on a motorway, and some avoid strategic roads altogether. This session develops the specific competencies high-speed roads demand: joining and leaving, lane discipline, overtaking judgement, observation at speed, smart motorway signage and what to do when something goes wrong.
What the session includes
Pre-drive briefing
Route plan, lane discipline principles and signage refresher.
Joining and leaving
Slip road technique, merging, speed matching and exit planning.
Lane discipline and overtaking
Positioning, overtaking judgement and observation at speed.
Smart motorway features
Variable limits, signage, lane closures and emergency areas.
Breakdown procedure
What to do if the vehicle develops a fault at speed.

Scope
